Directed by Lasse Hallstrom and based on the novel by best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, DEAR JOHN tells the story of John Tyree (Channing Tatum), a young soldier home on leave, and Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried), the idealistic college student he falls in love with during her spring vacation. Over the next seven tumultuous years, the couple is separated by Johns increasingly dangerous deployments. While meeting only sporadically, they stay in touch by sending a continuous stream of love letters overseas - correspondence that eventually triggers fateful consequences.

The story line is nice but that’s credited to the book. The movie is ok, kind of calming for the soul. Acting is not bad either. However, I think there’s some lack of depth in term of emotional expression, like, need to go for a bit more.

It’s a great Nicholas Sparks movie that dives into the turmoil feelings between John & Savannah & the kinship around those they love. Some may see it as a standard hollywood romance flick, but there are definitely moments that hit right in the heart.

i myself thinks this is quite a nice movie, front part is the headstart of the story lines, so tt u will know what is to be told in the latter part, but i agreed tt the ending is not nice as it doesnt show u what happen to the kid if both tgt.

Basically, this is more of a romance story. Its like a common sequence in a relationship. Some of the parts are rather boring but in some parts, we keep on wanting to know what is the next scene. The ending does not end perfectly, overall, nice story

It’s a typical Nicholas Spark’s novel turned into a movie - boy meets girls, boy gets separated from girl, someone gets sick, then coming into terms with oneself. If you’re a romantic a heart then this is a movie for you.

Heard from friends that this movie was based on NOTE BOOK, which is a great story. However, I almost fall asleep during the 1st 60 mins!! Soon after that, story starts to get more interesting. So, it’s a quite OK movie for me. Ending is sudden though

Unless you like a "mindless" tearjerker, this movie is probably not for the general worldwide audience. But U.S. army wives can probably relate to how hard it was for Sav’nah while John was away, & I hv to say, ChanningTatum is real easy on the eyes!

It was quite a nice girly movie. However the ending was quite sudden, leaving us wondering if Savannah & John were back together.

The movie is more than just about love between the 2. The father-son relationship for John will trigger us how we are handling ours now. Quite disturbed about the decisions Savannah made which caused a letdown to most audiences.
