4th century A.D. Egypt under the Roman Empire. Violent religious upheaval in the streets of Alexandria spills over into the city's famous Library. Trapped inside its walls, the brilliant astronomer Hypatia and her disciples fight to save the wisdom of the Ancient World. Story is pretty interesting but the movie progresses too slowly.

Less engaging than expected of an Amenabar film, Agora is still well-made for most parts. It deals with the ideology of faith, specifically Christianity’s quest to topple traditional wisdom and knowledge of the ancient (and scientific) world. B-.
