"Slumdog Millionaire" is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions.

Intrigued by Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector begins to wonder what a young man with no apparent desire for riches is really doing on this game show?

When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out...

Sorry about the rating 2 1/2 out of 5 I give even though many people would recomend this show The storyline looks little boring to me and it is quite long and draggy. Able to learn something from the movie. Too bad, this show comes with a NC16 rating

A simple storyline matched with beautiful cinematography, also depicts the reality of the slums in India. It’s quite a feast for the audience and I can see why it is fit for an Oscar.

It depicts reality of the underdogs in our society. I love how we can see passion, loyalty, family and different life goals and values contribute to achieving our destiny. Jamal got his true love albeit setbacks, separation and stumble upon wealth.

Love the movie for its content. Hate the way people in the slums areas are being treated, esp the little ones...Amaze at how they manage to survive under such drastic conditions and still have their simple joys. Should make available for all to view.

Gives you a look at the simple but happy lives of people living in the slums of India and shows you that it doesn’t take a genius to have knowledge. Life experience plays a big role as well. Paper qualification isn’t everything.

U may think it’s another show that caught attn juz because it won the Oscar. But it’s really inspirational, my take-away from this touching show: "Every moment of our life is a blessing, we do not appreciate/realize it until we had lived through it."
