Starring the top two male idols in Taiwan today, Ethan Ruan and Mark Zhao, Monga is Taiwans blockbuster of the year which tells the story of five boys from the historical district of Monga in Taipei, who join a gang because they were tired of being bullied around.

As the young men enjoy their newfound status as gangsters in Monga, they have no idea that other gangs have also set their eyes on this prosperous area. Under the guidance of a veteran gangster, the youngsters are taught the heritage created by the founders of the borough of Monga. He has no idea, however, of a storm brewing that will soon break every hint of order in town, and remove the last remaining grandeur of the Old Town Monga

It’s a great & funny show! Kinda bloody at some scenes, but the actors have projected the strong brotherhood & betrayal in the triads. I’ve learnt abt the interesting past of Taiwan. Seems that the ending is hinting that there’ll be Monga 2.

This movie is all about the strong brotherhood ties between the characters in old Taiwan. Love the vintage feel to the movie and overall, there’re great real emotional acting from all the characters that brings out the hot-bloodedness in brothers.

Excellent movie. Great storyline with strong themes of brotherhood and family. Very creditable effort for an Asian film. Won’t be surprised if it picks up some film festival awards!

Great acting from Ethan. Great Story Line. 4 Popcorn for the show being way too draggy and slow moving.
