Based on the popular and award-winning Professor Layton Nintendo DS puzzle game series, this movie is set to take place directly after the events of "Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute", in which Layton's apprentice, Luke, is investigating the concept of immortality.

Professor Layton receives a letter from the famed opera singer, Jenice Kaitly, inviting them to see her newest performance. She also asks Layton, Luke, and Remi for assistance in a mystery, saying her friend Melina went missing one year ago but returned later as a seven year old girl saying she had found the secret of eternal life. Naturally, the case fascinates Layton and his apprentices, so they head to the Crown Petone opera house. When they arrive, something is very strange: the pianist, Ozro Vislar talks of a game, and the winner will win the "eternal life." It is up to Layton, Luke, and Remi to solve the mystery of the Eternal Diva before it is too late.

One interesting movie that suits all! For those who will be watching it for the very first time, no problem in following the story. Full of mystery to capture the audience’s attention as if they are also part of the adventure. Good songs to listen to

This film did not fail in its purpose:make a film based on a game, and it does it’s job well. Of course as a movie its not perfect, and only fans of the series will love it, but it does a good job. Not bad, not great, just good.

Love it! A must for all Professor Layton fans! Nice Ending!
Can’t wait for the sequel! It’s nice to watch a cartoon in 2D instead of the usual 3D ones. The Japanese Language brings out the Original ’taste’ of the series. One of my favourite! (:

boring....and the ending is quite "illogical", which is in contrast with the 3 logical and lateral-thinking puzzles within the show.

I found the movie really quite boring... Didn’t really like the animation style of the film. The story was pretty underwhelming too although the ending was interesting. I guess this movie is only for people who have played the Nintendo DS game. 2.5/5
