| Why does GV set up a GV Movie Reviewer section now? |
| Being the leading cinema exhibitor, we want to engage our members and
provide a platform for them to share their views on movies they have
watched. |
| How do I become a GV Movie Reviewer? |
| Firstly you will need to be a GV Movie Club member. We have pre-selected
members to be our GV Movie Reviewers from the two rounds of contests held
asking members to submit their movie reviews in April 2008. Please look out
for our next round of GV Movie Reviewers selection in August 2008.
| I am not a GV Movie Club member, am I able to read and/or write
movie reviews? |
| Yes, you will be able to read the movie reviews however only pre-selected GV
Movie Club members with GV Movie Reviewer status will be able to post movie
reviews.
| Why is there a rating for the movie but no movie review posted? |
| GV Movie Reviewers may choose to rate the movie they have watched but not
post a review.
| Why is there no rating and no reviews posted for some movies? |
| Our very small pool of GV Movie Reviewers may not have watched or had the
chance to post their reviews yet.
| I do not agree and/or find a post inappropriate. What can I do? |
| GV hopes all movie reviews are objective and do not give away spoilers. Only
if you find a post offensive should you click "Report this' and follow the
instructions to submit a report for us to investigate the contents of the
post.

| What exactly is Digital Cinema? |
Digital cinema encompasses every aspect of the movie making process, from production and post-production to distribution and projection.
While digital cameras are nothing new, and post-production houses have been using digital equipment to edit and master movies and animation for some time, the all-digital distribution and projection of movies has only recently arrived to complete the chain.
A digitally produced or digitally converted movie can be distributed to theatres via satellite, physical media, or fiber optic networks. The digitized movie is stored by a computer/server which "serves" it to a digital projector for each screening of the movie. Projectors based on DLP CinemaT technology are currently installed in over 200 theatres worldwide-and remain the first and only commercially available digital cinema projectors.
The DLPT Advantage: At the Movies
Ultimate color: Experience a range of up to 35 trillion colors.
Total clarity With a picture this sharp, you see exactly what the director had in mind.
Opening night forever Get a perfect screening every time-say goodbye to scratches, fading and flutter. |
| Is Digital really better than Film? |
For millions of movie goers worldwide and leading directors including George Lucas and Steven Soderbergh, the answer is an unqualified "yes."
When you see a movie digitally, you see that movie the way its creators intended you to see it: with incredible clarity and detail. In a range of up to 35 trillion colors. And whether you're catching that movie on opening night or months after, it will always look its best, because digital movies are immune to the scratches, fading, pops and jitter that film is prone to with repeated screenings.
That's why directors love digital cinema: it ensures that their creation will be reproduced with total fidelity at every screening.
Since 1999, DLP CinemaT has projected over 200,000 shows to more than 20 million people worldwide. The results have been overwhelmingly positive: 85 percent of viewers described the image quality they experienced as "excellent," and no fewer than 80 percent of audiences decided that, given the choice, they would prefer to see a movie digitally rather than on film. |
| How does DLP Cinema technology work? |
1. A digital projector based on DLP CinemaT technology transfers the digitized image file onto three optical semiconductors known as Digital Micromirror Devices, or DMDs. Each of these chips is dedicated to one primary color-red, green, or blue. A DMD chip contains a rectangular array of over one million microscopic mirrors.
2. Light from the projector's lamp is reflected off the mirrors and is combined in different proportions of red, green and blue, as controlled by the image file, to create an array of different colored pixels that make up the projected image. Think of the DMD mirrors as the colored cards held up by an audience in a sports arena to create a giant image. Each person holds up a single colored card, yet when combined, these thousands of cards create a picture. If the card colors are changed, the picture changes too.
3. The DMD mirrors tilt either toward or away from the light source thousands of times per second to reflect the movie onto the screen. These images are sequentially projected onto the screen, recreating the movie in front of you with perfect clarity and a range of more than 35 trillion colors.
